FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I get a Service Order Number for my Grabner MINIVAP or Eralytics eravap? Simply call us at (918) 282-7964, email JoshGaynor@ShaneCaL.com, or use the form on the website by pushing the "Click for a Service Order No." button. We typically reply with your Service Order Number (SO#) and shipping instructions within minutes during business hours.
2. What is the standard turnaround time for Grabner or Eralytics vapor pressure calibration? Most instruments are fully calibrated, inspected (25+ system checks), and returned in under one week. We minimize your downtime so your oil & gas lab or testing facility can stay productive.
3. Do you calibrate Eralytics eravap vapor pressure analyzers? Yes. We regularly service Eralytics eravap models alongside Grabner MINIVAP VP Vision and other vapor pressure testers. All calibrations are ISO 17025 traceable and ASTM compliant.
4. How fast can you calibrate a Grabner MINIFLASH flashpoint analyzer? Standard turnaround is under one week. For urgent needs (1–2 days), we offer expedited service for a $225 fee. Many oil terminals and downstream labs use this option to meet tight compliance deadlines.
5. What accessories should I send with my Grabner MINIVAP for calibration? Send only the instrument (with the inlet filter). Do not include the power cord, waste container, inlet luer/tube, or other accessories. This keeps shipping simple and cost-effective.
6. What should I ship with my Grabner MINIFLASH flashpoint analyzer? Send the instrument with the cup(s) and carrier(s). For FLA models, also include the carousel. Do not send the power cord or extra accessories.
7. Is your Grabner and Eralytics calibration ISO 17025 traceable? Yes. All calibrations are fully ISO 17025 traceable with detailed certificates, giving refineries, midstream terminals, and quality labs confidence during audits. We also keep your calibration certificates on file in case you ever need them.
8. Which ASTM methods do you support for vapor pressure and flashpoint calibration? We support key methods including ASTM D5191, D6378, D6377, D323, D5188, D6450, and D7094. This covers most requirements for petroleum products, gasoline blending, and flavor/fragrance testing.
9. How often should I calibrate my vapor pressure analyzer for EPA/CARB compliance? The EPA typically requires calibration every 6 months for facilities selling finished petroleum products like gasoline. We can set your calibration due date for 6 months or 12 months — just let us know your preference.
10. What is the calibration interval for Grabner MINIFLASH flashpoint analyzers?Standard calibration is valid for 1 year unless you request a different interval. Tell us your needs when requesting your SO#.
11. Do you offer onsite calibration for oil & gas or perfume testing facilities? Unfortunately we do not offer this service at this time. We hope to be able to offer this in the near future.
12. Do you repair Grabner and Eralytics instruments or only calibrate them? We perform both calibration and small repairs. Every unit receives a full evaluation, cleaning, preventative maintenance, and repairs as needed — with all extra costs quoted and approved before proceeding. We have many parts for these instruments but not all. Please let us know if your instrument is having problems and most can be solved with our CalPrevent Service providing over 25 different preventative maintenance checks along with a calibration.
13. What payment options do you accept for calibration services? We accept Purchase Orders (Net 30) and credit cards. We prefer having your PO or card details upfront to keep the process smooth. Payment is required before shipping your instrument back.
14. Can you calibrate older Grabner MINIVAP or MINIFLASH models?Yes. We have over 34 years of experience servicing current and legacy Grabner and Eralytics instruments used in oil & gas labs and flavor/fragrance facilities.
15. Do you work with perfume, flavor, and fragrance testing labs? Absolutely. We calibrate vapor pressure and flashpoint analyzers for many perfume and flavor facilities that require precise, compliant testing.
16. How do I know my instrument will meet regulatory requirements after calibration? We perform calibrations to current ASTM, EPA, and CARB standards with full traceability. You’ll receive a detailed certificate suitable for audits.
17. Do you offer calibration reminders so I stay compliant? Yes. After your first service, we automatically send a reminder one month before your next calibration is due — helping oil & gas labs and testing facilities maintain continuous compliance without extra effort.
18. What is the expedite fee if I need my Grabner or Eralytics instrument back quickly? For 1–2 day turnaround, we charge a $225 expedite fee. This priority service is popular with refineries and terminals facing urgent production or audit deadlines.
19. How do I prepare my vapor pressure instrument before shipping? For Grabner MINIVAP and Eralytics eravap, send only the unit with the inlet filter. Make sure to attach your Service Order Number visibly on the outside of the box along with your contact information.
20. Can you calibrate instruments used for crude oil or high-viscosity samples? Yes. We have extensive experience calibrating Grabner and Eralytics instruments used for crude oil, gasoline, and other challenging petroleum products in upstream and midstream operations.
21. Do you provide a certificate of calibration with every service? Yes. Every completed service includes a detailed ISO 17025 traceable certificate showing before-and-after results, ideal for audits in downstream petroleum and specialty chemical labs.
22. What if my instrument needs repairs in addition to calibration? We fully evaluate every unit upon arrival. Any necessary repairs will be quoted with a clear price and approved by you before work begins — no surprises.
23. Why should I choose ShaneCal over the manufacturer for Grabner and Eralytics calibration? We offer faster turnaround (under 1 week standard), extremely competitive pricing, no contracts, superior technical support, and over 34 years of specialized experience — all while maintaining full ISO 17025 traceability and ASTM compliance.
